How innovative could future PlayStations really be?

Beyond 2020, will there still be new systems coming out for PlayStation? All threw out history, everyone has seen the different variations, and designs for the new PlayStation systems, also the new features that have come because of the system upgrades, etc.

After so many new features, and designs, how much more can be dished out when all the cool ideas have been produced already? Will PlayStation ever just decide that maybe it's time to do away with PlayStation and start a new franchise? PlayStool, PlayBox, PlayMore, PlayApe, RealPlaySquare, just some random examples.

"I just got that new RealPlaySquare, it's dope bro."

It could happen lol.

I believe their next thing to shoot for is 8k resolution.

I just don't get why the last gen console wasn't considered innovative considering it came with some unique features that had never been seen before. I guess, it was more of a software thing at the time cause I heard Microsoft owned that market in the beginning of that run. But for me I'm not expecting much to change from that memory boost they are giving. Probably a tad better graphics but its more likely they are just rying to keep up with PC gaming now. So if you want innovating get ya self a desktop!

In my opinion, I think that Playstation as every other console is going to be adapting to the new changes that technology itself will have for us, I'm not really sure if it will follow a new line by themselves, but if they did it, it would be cool too. But still, I think that I'm looking forward to see what else can they do to make things more realistic, imagine how video games will change in 10 years? it blows my mind every time.

There's a scene in this movie called "The Island" is has Scarlett Johansson in it. In the scene, they were playing like a physical reality version of street fighter or something like that. It was a fighting game and they used their bodies in a realistic physical reality to fight one another. It was cool.

To see something like that within the next 10 years or so would be a big advance for the gaming industry. Virtual Reality is still some what new, and I can't wait to really see where it's going as well.

Sony can do pretty much what they want with future incarnations of the Playstation as they have an endless amount of funds to do so. 8K and VR have already been mentioned and I do think they are going to wait and see what the new Xbox has to offer before Sony make their move. I don't think anybody can say that the next gen consoles like the Playstation4 and the Xbox ONE that we was anticipating didnt really live up to expectations, and while I wouldn't say they was a let down, I think both Microsoft and Sony will be wanting to make sure the same underwhelming reaction doesn't happen again.

The next step could be the Playstation Play Station, it's a virtual reality world hub where you can take a digital subway with other gamers to the game you want to play instead of physically putting in the disc. Really though let us not speak of running out of innovation to be made until every game released has no load times.

I guess no matter how far we go, there can always be better graphics, bigger worlds, more realistic physics and more content. Even if we somehow (and I doubt this will happen anytime soon) reach a point where game graphics are indistinguishable from reality, we can always make bigger worlds and the other former mentioned things. Also, you have to consider the fact that game developers aren't robots who can work for countless hours and there is also the budget. So there might even be a stage where consoles are better than the games and game developers themselves, completely stumping progress.

With regards to resolution, there is no point in going higher than 4K as we can barely tell the difference between that and Quad HD. Unless you're playing on a 90 inch tv at point blank range, its really not necessary and its a lot of work for game developers to design unnecessarily high resolution textures that probably will win bragging rights, but wont win any recognition. Maybe within the next few decades, we will see a console that can shine out a wide angle holographic display, eliminating the need for a physical display. We might also hit a stage where we no longer see loading times and everything is instant. As well as large SSD's for virtually limitless storage capability, as well as latency-free multiplayer.
