How Many Handhelds Have You Owned Over the Years?

I, myself, only ever owned a plain old DS (white) and a DS Lite (Dark Blue) - partly because there was no reason to buy another during my childhood (they weren't releasing new handhelds, and even then, I wouldn't buy any of the newer ones - even if they had come out during the prime of my DS gaming). And also because, during the time, these handhelds were EXPENSIVE - at least - for my family.

So, I've only ever owned two. But I do know of people that one each new installment because they're huge nintendo fans! How many have you owned? Do you see any of the newer handhelds (the 3DS XL, for example) to be tedious / not worth it?

my first one ever was the game boy color, then the game boy advance SP and then a DS lite and finally the 3DS. I plan on getting the New 3DS soon.

I've owned a GameBoy, a GameBoy Advance, a Nintendo DS, and a Nintendo DSiXL.
Pretty much the only reason I have these consoles is because of the Pokemon, Zelda and Mario franchise.
I really want to buy a 3DS but I have a lot of college expenses to bear right now and can't afford it.
But if you're a fan of the Pokemon, Zelda and Mario franchise, every (literally, every) Nintendo console is worth it.
I also love to play Animal Crossing. xD
It's a lovely way to pass time. :)

Oof, this one's a toughie. My sister owned a Game Boy Advance and a Game Boy SP, but the first one I called "mine" was a Game Boy SP, so we each had one. After that, I got a DS Lite, then the 3DS... so really not that many! I guess I expected more. Then I'm getting a Vita, so I guess that totals up to four.

I own any that have good games :) I started back in the day with the old black and white gameboy of the 90s. I then had a virtualboy with almost all of the games, in the mid-late 90s. I sold it about 10 years ago, wish I'd waited to sell as it's price has gone through the roof on the 2nd hand market. Virtual boy was the only "handheld" (if you could even call it that) that I didn't like. The black/red color gave me a headache, and it was just awkward having to hold your face down against it, like looking through a microscope, uncomfortable for sure. After that, I had the gameboy color, and gameboy advanced, and then the NDS, and then the 3DS.

I skip the "lite" and "XL" iterations. And I think the tablet looking 3DS without the 3D (what do they call it? 2DS or something I think? I think it's dumb as hell. It looks big/unweilding, but the screen is not any bigger. It doesn't fold up to fit in purse or pocket any more, and nothing to protect the screen like the unit that folds.)

I love handheld gaming because there's a huge number of old-school rpgs, and quirky little games like phoenix wright, 999, and trace memory, which blend visual novel elements into the gameplay. Some of my favorite games are nds exclusives :)

I play my handheld more at home than on the go though, which might be weird I guess :)

I also like other handhelds by other manufacturers, like PSP, Vita, Gamegear, Nomad, etc.

I started with nintendo handhelds back in the GBC era, I owned a lime green game boy color with pokemon red and yellow, I still remember changing batteries and having to buy a lot of AA's.

Unfortunately, my family was though a rough pach when the GBA came out so I never owned one. I then manage to get a "brick" DS, in which I played all the GBA games that I missed. I then got my DS stolen in school and as a replacement I got a blue DS lite.

Now I own a red 3DS and the mario and luigi silver 3ds XL. I don't know if I'll get the next nintendo consoles, mostly because they kind of let me down with this E3 and the fact that they keep focusing in amiibo.

I have only ever owned two consoles: a GameBoy Advance and a Nintendo DS.  I think the new consoles are interesting, but not worth to buy at the moment.  Since they keep coming up with newer versions, the older ones would typically be cheaper.  Also, I don't play on them as much anymore because of time and the games don't interest me.  It wouldn't make sense for me to get another console if I don't play any of the games made for them or had the time to actually play my money's worth.  Besides, I already have a DS so until it breaks I don't see the need to replace it.  I'll wait a bit and see.

I have owned only two handhelds: the Nintendo DS Lite, and the Sony PSP. I would really have liked to buy more, but the PSP really made everything else obsolete.

A year after I bought my PSP, I was beginning to find the library of games dull, having bought it towards the end of its lifetime. But my friend suggested that I install homebrew software on it, and soon, I had a whole legion of Game Boy, Game Boy Colour and NDS titles playable on my PSP.

However, it lacked the basic functionality of the NDS Lite, and so the DS was, is, and always will be my favourite handheld console (touchscreen FTW!).

I've owned a GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Advance Sp, a regular DS, and my 3DS.

Most of these were handed down by my brothers, but still were valuable to my collection at the time. I'd always play Pokemon and Mario games.

I've owned a GBASP, DSlite, and 3DSXL. Yep, I've only owned nintendo handhelds, but my consoles are all Sony XD.
I also used to play my aunt's gameboy color because she was too busy on playstation or playstation 2, so I got to experience the original pokemon games too. I love Nintendo's handhelds, it's what keeps me a Nintendo fan to this day.

I never even got a Gameboy when I was a kid. There's an awesome one in the case at a pawn shop here and I thought about getting it just to venge my sad little childhood. LOL
I got my kid a DSlite and then a 3DS and since she got tired of me borrowing them all of the time... I finally went out and got my own. I also a couple years ago traded a dvd player I wasn't using anymore with a friend for her PSP but I didn't keep that long at all.

I first started with a Gameboy Advance. I asked my mom for a Gameboy and I think at that time they were only selling GBA's (except if we had went to a game store we might have found a Gameboy). Then from there I got a Gameboy Advance SP. I really loved it because it was hard playing the orginally GBA in the dark, or sometimes when my niece wanted to watch me play her shadow would make it impossible to see what I was doing. From there on I got a DSlite, a DSi and a 3DS. I have not yet gotten the New 3DS but I may get one at some point.

Nintendo is the only console that I've owned every single model of with the exception of the Wii U. From the original Gameboy to the 3DS, I've had them all. :)
