Well, many people think the game is a bit disappointing and isn't as interesting as many other Mario games are, so what would you have done to improve the game?

I would have delayed the game a few more months and then redid more of the graphics and music. I'd then put in more unique enemies, add some more new Koopaling bosses and add a new power up or two.

Maybe improve things like co-op multiplayer.

How would you have improved New Super Mario Bros 2?

A playable good Goomba. :D

Don't know yet. I have to see for myself whenever I actually get the game.

I didn't bother to get the game at all, the reason being IT'S THE SAME AS ALL THE OTHER "NEW" MARIO GAMES! Sure, the little gimmick is different, but the game is the exact freaking thing. Don't want to get NSMBU for the same reason...the horse died after Wii, yet they're still beating it. Hell, 3D Land felt like NSMB to me, with 3D worlds instead of 2D. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 were the last games that had any innovation in my opinion (notice how they stopped after 2 there...that was SMART). Sure you turn things into gold and coins are EVERYWHERE, but it's the exact same game otherwise, except easier since you'll never run out of lives, and a gold powerup makes you nigh on invincible. Let's look at the NSMB games, 3D Land included.

NSMB: Returned the series to its roots. A good idea, and a refreshing look back at where the series began.

NSMBWii: Same game, added propeller (interesting game mechanic), and added a co-op option to the main storyline. Good move (my dad and I enjoyed playing through it together)

SM3DL: Same game, added tanooki (and overused it) and made levels 3D. Otherwise, no difference.

NSMB2: Same game, added gold power up. Coins every freaking where.

NSMBU: Same game, added ability to add blocks to jump on (what??).

It's about time we got some innovation for the series. If you want a new 2D game, give us something original...NSMB was a great innovation...give us something in a new graphics style, all new music, and switch up the worlds so each game doesn't look exactly the same as the one before it. If you want 3D, don't give us a 3D NSMB...give us an innovation. Galaxy was excellent, Sunshine (although it didn't sell well) is still fun to play today. SM64 is widely acclaimed to still hold up in its N64 incarnation...THAT'S a sign of a lasting game. 3D Land bored me to death, as the level length was comparable to NSMB, there was nowhere to explore, and it was too blasted easy (What kind of final boss do you fight by NEVER HURTING IT??? At least the original SMB let players who kept the fire flower all the way through use them to beat up on Bowser). Color me disappointed.

First of all, I would have made DLC a lot cheaper than the current prices are set as. I would love to get even just one, but hell, 5 dollars for a couple of levels is just not worth it.

Second, composed/created a new sound track. A lot of the songs are great, but they've been overused to an extreme extent.

Third, I would have done something new with the world setup. It's very similar to the world setup in NSMBW having the same settings like forest and mountains, I mean, they're great settings, but introduce something new that NSMB or NSMBW didn't already besides the desert and first world (and maybe the 8th).

Fourth, I would have loved the multiplayer batter from NSMB. You don't know how many times I played that with my friends for hours. the songs and the gameplay were so much fun and so memorable.

Fifth, how about something different as a final boss? I mean, make it bowser, that's fine, just, all that was done was the fight became vertical. Boring. Lazy. Just plain stupid.

Sixth, introduce some mechanics that weren't in the last two when it comes to certain levels. I mean, you have certain ideas like the dry coaster from NSMBW. something like that, introduce new level mechanics.

Seventh, stop sticking with the same enemies. Dry versions of enemies was a cool idea, but still lazy. A piranha plant had bones. BONES. Introduce some new enemies besides the koopalings. It was cool for them to come back, but don't overuse them... Especially if you won't mention that they're bowser's kids like you did in SMB3.

I have around 17 more, but I've made my point that there are plenty of things to improve.

I would add Mini games, 1 more power-up for underwater or something. have different castle bosses, like not only Reznor, but also Bowser Jr., Boom Boom and Pom Pom.

I would have added an extra bowser battle after the chase thing, so you can attack him and THEN the game is over. Plus you can earn coins for mini games and all the coins you gather you can spent in a mini shop that allows you to buy power-ups and toad houses for the game and outfits for your Mii you can play as. And Wario unlocked for the million coins

Nothing. NSMB2 was a good game and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I like the gimmick of getting coins, even though getting 1M takes more time than I'm willing to give. The level design was good too.

Also, Lord Regal, you claim they're all the same, but with minor differences. That is untrue. The styles are a like, but the level design is different in every game. Prove me wrong. Show me where any level in NSMB-NSMBU looks the exact same with no difference. Besides the little Mario 1 start they do at the first level of most games.

>New Music, not one song from NSMBW, except maybe the credits. I love the credits in this game.

> Blue Toad and Yellow Toad unlocked along with Luigi

>World Mushroom and Fire Flower have new themes, maybe a haunted world and a forest (Like the one in Paper Mario Sticker Star without the poison)

>Different bosses, maybe having the bosses from paper mario return, along with a more interesting bowser battle, like NSMBU

>Gold mode, which turns all enemies permanently golden, and bosses too which become harder. Able to turn on/off unlocked after getting 1,000,000 coins

Agreed. I thought the game was great. It was fun to play, and that's what counts. It would have been cool to be able to unlock other characters to play as, and to have more of a reason to collect coins, but overall the game play is fantastic, the levels were well designed and fun, and I thought the graphic design was quirky and fun. You don't have to completely change the entire game and formula for it to be a good game.

1. Less formulaic Worlds. It's the same in every game. Grass, Desert, Sea, Snow, Jungle...STOP! It was fine in NSMB, it was tired in NSMBW, it's tired in this game and it's even more tired in NSMBU(But that's a whole other story). Get creative, Nintendo!

2. An original soundtrack! One where NO song is reused. Come on, Nintendo! You have the best composers in the world, yet you only compose a small hand full of new song every game. Yes, we all love the old music but if you keep doing this there's gonna be no new music to love.

3. A reason to collect the flippin' coins. Why do we collect them? Just for the heck of it? This would have fit a Wario game since he's all about greed and riches galore but Mario? Not real reason there.

3.5. A reward for collecting all those darn flippin' coins. A REAL reward! No, the statue just doesn't cut it for me.

4. Remove or nerf the life system. With all these coins you always have dozens of 1ups. The game bombards you with them. Seriously, who has ever had a game over in recent Mario games? And what's the point of them? You have to redo some levels. Yeah...great.
In my opinion lives and game overs are useless and should be removed. OR you make lives just hard to obtain. Like in NES times.

5. More creative visuals. Let's face it: The levels don't really look that impressive. It's what you would expect. Snow levels have snowy trees and snowy mountains in the background, desert levels have palm trees and pyramids in the background. Not creative. Nothing special. In a game like Donkey Kong Country Returns for example every level looks unique, pretty and all around nice to look at. There's almost always something cool in the background.
Another problem with the New Super Mario Bros Series: All the levels are tile based. That's uninteresting.

6. Come up with some new enemies! There are only like 3 new emeies in the whole game. Other than that: Same ol' goombas, same ol' koopsa, etc.

7. Harder difficulty. Self explanatory.

8. Not the Koopalings again! Their return in NSMBW was cool but I liked the more varied bosses of NSMB.

9. Change the title. There's nothing new about this Super Mario Bros.

10. Over all just more efford and creativity.
