 According to Digitimes, HP and Walmart will partner to sell a $99 Android tablet in the coming weeks. The device is said to be equipped with a 7-inch display and a single-core Intel Medfield processor.

$99 for a 7 inch Google Android made by HP, and sold by Wal-mart sounds like a pretty good deal.

But, I got a feeling most of the buyers who buy this tablet are not going back to school, and just planning to use it for reading ebooks, watching movies, going online, casual gaming and other tasks.
 
A Tablet may not be needed for learning, but it is cheaper than a laptop, and desktop computer which cost hundreds more.
 
True, I think there are wireless keyboards and printers which can connect to a tablet easily. A Tablet maybe useful for quickly looking at tutorial videos for math, science, and other subjects online, or the teacher's video pre-recorded to the tablet for kids to review at home.
 
A lot of Tablet cases made by lesser known Chinese Companies come with a stand built-in to the case, and only cost a 5-20 dollars on Amazon, and eBay. Most people who buy tablets would be interested in a protective case since a case prevents the screen from getting scratch when close, and offer some protection against low drops from 1-3 feet depending on how well the case is made. A case also make their tablet look better like how a lot of people like using fancy cases for cell phones to make it look like a leather wallet instead of a piece of cheap plastic with a screen.
