Having started way back in 4th grade with Pokemon Red/Blue, I have yet to encounter a single shiny Pokemon to call my own (save for the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage).
With the addition of chain fishing in Pokemon X & Y, I have now made claim to both a shiny Staryu and a shiny Poliwag!!
Depends on what you mean by "How many you now found." In Pokemon X and Y zero, but throughout Pokemon, besides the Red Gyarados, one. Which was just a Golden Geodude... Actually the first shiny I did find was a Green Zubat in Pokemon Fire Red. I thought it was a glitch so I caught it for fun. Then I looked at it and saw it was actually green and thought it was something like Missingno. I didn't want my game to mess up so I shut off the game without saving.
Though really, I'm not a shiny hunter. I mean if I find one cool, but other than being a pallet swap, they're no different than any other Pokemon.
Cool. I have a shiny Granbull and Golem (In X/Y). My friend is addicted to shinies which is a decent gimmick. But I don't want anyone to tell me fairies are a gimmick.

I didn't even know it was a shiny, because I just had bought it used, but I wanted to fill up my pokedex so I caught it. Later I realized it was a shiny. And now it's stored safely on my Diamond.

I caught a Golbat in Ruby, grabbed a Ryhorn in Diamond, and fished a Poliwag out of Y. A freind just gave me a Throh because he didn't want it. So I have 4 shinies outside of the Red G and all the shiny giveaways.
Shinies are just a nice little flair to your pokes. I mean I always breed with a Japanese ditto trying to luck into one, but it's not too important. Honestly, I like my flying and surfing pikachus fromt he pokewalker more. Too bad they can't leave Soul Silver...
But to count mine from past games I have Shiny Xatu from the safari in R/S/E, a cloned shiny Modest oddish from a friend, a shiny Noctowl in HG, and I did have a shiny Zangoose before I traded it away in W.
