Setting up a gaming channel can be fun! Unfortunately, it does take some rather expensive equipment to be able to make some professionally made videos. First, you need to make sure you have a stable recording device. If you're recording on the computer, there are a few requirements. First, you need a computer that runs pretty well, obviously. Having a computer that doesn't run real fast can make it difficult to record, and can also result in making the videos laggy/hard to watch. However, if you have a stable computer,
most of the time, you will not need to worry about this. If you do get lag when recording, you can try these options:
- Upgrade your graphics card. It could be old and out-of-date.
- Make sure no unneeded programs are running. The only things you really need open are your recording software and the game itself.
- Ask for help. Some others probably have other interesting ways of speeding up your computer a bit.
After you have that sorted out, you also need a good recording software and video editor. Most video editors come with recording software, so that shouldn't be a
huge problem. However, if it doesn't, I recommend the full version of Fraps. You can just search that up on Google and the download stuff should pop up somewhere near the top.
Once you have all the equipment set up, I'd focus on structuring your channel. Make a schedule so your subscribers know when to expect a video from you. Also, think of what
types of games you want to aim your channel towards: Sandbox, indie, FPS, RPG, etc.
Here's one more tip: When you record, try to make your commentary interesting. You don't need to make a script or anything, obviously, but just try to avoid stuttering or saying "um" or "uh" a lot.
That's really all I have, so all I can say to end this post off is to have fun, and good luck!
