Do you think that "gamer" is a legitimate lifestyle, and why?

Yes, of course. It's the same as being a movie buff, or a trading card collector, or a die hard Trekkie or Whovian.
The fact some people seem to dislike that idea rather disturbs me to be honest...

I am not sure what you mean by legitimate lifestyle.
I don't see how it could be illegitimate but I am not sure if I'd call it a lifestyle.
Either way, considering a lot of what i do circles around my gaming memories and experiences I guess I could say I fit the bill.
Anyway, I like playing games, that for me is enough to consider myself a gamer.
