If aliens are real, is religon over?

To each their own, but I don't believe in god. That being said, I can see why people believe in him, but it also makes a lot of people stupid.

Aliens don't exist, even they do, i don't think they are controlled by religion.

This reminds me Stargate.. there's religion, there's other form of life.. let's make them gods.

I don't think religion would be over. It would be adapted to the circumstances.

How can you say they don't exist? Do you really believe we are the only planet with any form of life on?

Or do you consider Aliens to be advanced? Any form of life on another planet is considered an alien.

I somewhat do care about the Raelist theory (not believe in)... Our Gods of the Creation are only used as "Symbols and Images", in Asia nowadays, unlike in Occident, so to speak, some think they don't exist at all. So Aliens and Religion, a no for me.
And what about Raelism?

So I was reading some funny alien stories the past week and had a thought.

So lets say aliens showed up, revealed all about their superior culture built on tech and have homes far greater than ours. If or when this happens, where does this leave religion? The same religion that declares everything is created by god and yet aliens clearly prove this is not true.

So what do you think would happen to religion if aliens prove it's some made up thing by humans?
  • This whole question per-supposes that Abrahamic God dogmas are the only religions in existence. Christianity, for example, is 'a religion,' not 'the religion'.

  • Most of the world's biggest religions have elaborate myths about gods from the sky, including, but not limited to, Judeo-Christian ones. some take it a step further and claims that their gods are not only from outer space, but different planes of existence and shit.

  • This question disregards the main premise of any religion with a creation myth attached to it. If a God doesn't come from earth, and supposedly created earth, like Brahma of Hinduism for example, then this being is by definition extra-terrestrial. In fact, the only famous terrestrial gods are the Olympians of ancient Greece, and maybe the roman ones.

So no; the presence of Aliens won't end "religion." Just the opposite is likely.

I am not sure people would necessarily give up whatever their faith may be just like that...  It wouldn't really disprove religion as a whole would it?  All it would counter would be the general consensus throughout religion that humans are some kind of "blessed race", or "god's favourite".  I personally never understood how people can say that God created everything but we are somehow more important that a fly.  That's my thoughts anyway.

Oh, that's cause we're "self-conscious", my friend.
