If you were made in charge of Xbox's game division, what would you do?
Take the reins of Halo and make a game that truly captures what made the original trilogy so great. I would encourage Gears to continue their good work and avoid the mistakes of the recent games. I would encourage more indie developers and bring back couch co-op.
Shoot, it makes me want to play it.That make me get an Xbox.
You'll need to do more. Add games that people actually want to Game Pass, like the indie games. That way the income feeds into the development of more indie games and encourages more to pay for the pass. Keep the price $10-20 monthly, with the $20 allowing Xbox/PC pass like it was before. If you have to run ads in the PC or home page to make up some revenue, fine. Keep it out of game loading screens and games. After that, I’d seriously look at pricing strategy. If Microsoft wants Xbox to function as a Game Pass‑driven platform, then they need people to actually own the hardware. Selling the next Xbox at a major loss would be expensive, sure, but Microsoft can afford it. Sony and Nintendo need profits from their gaming divisions; Microsoft doesn’t.
The market has basically handed them an opportunity to undercut the PS6, Steam Machine, and maybe even the next Switch. Get consoles into homes first, then push Game Pass. Once players are locked into the ecosystem, they’re far more likely to buy the next Xbox too.
I’m not even sure where I’d start because Xbox needs a lot of work, but I do agree with @bittersweet , Halo has to be the first priority. It’s the flagship franchise of the console; it sits in one of the most popular genres (FPS), and unlike Call of Duty, Halo doesn’t really have a direct AAA competitor. It occupies its own space.
And yet, ever since 343/Halo Studios took over, the series can’t even outperform indie shooters. That alone tells me the studio either needs to be dissolved or completely rebuilt from the top down. Halo should be the crown jewel of Xbox, not an afterthought.

Destiny died the day they locked the old content and required you to buy DLC to play.Destiny would be a competitor, but they are fizzling out.

I was beyond frustrated that they did that. I wanted to go and grind some levels out of boredom.Sure did.
Cries in Destiny 2 fanDestiny would be a competitor, but they are fizzling out.
I was a little confused when they stopped expanding on the lore in D2 and just seemed to pumping out dungeons for raids.Cries in Destiny 2 fan
It certainly was, and it certainly still should be.
