If your PS3 broke down now, or shortly after the release of the PS4 which there isn't many titles to get. Would you buy another PS3 or just get the PS4?
 
If I had a PS3, I just sell all my games since my PS3 broke, and see if someone wants to buy my broken PS3 for parts or to fix to sell as a refurbished console and I use the money for a new PC, Wii U, Ouya, other console or games for my other consoles.
 
Probably wouldn't bother with the Playstation 4. There are too few titles for it as it is and I tend to prefer PC gaming anyway.
It would be another story, if Sony actually introduced some sort of backwards compability.

they should be hopefully annoucing some kind of backwards compability soon.

If I remember correctly, the main reason that they don't want backwards compability is since it's much more expensive to have backwards compability. Atleast, that's how it was with the PS3.
