It's got some major Super Mario Bros 3 stuff already with the Racoon power up and the P Meter, but look at these screens a bit:
Is it me or it does it seem like we'll be going inside some trees in this forest? That's never happened since Super Mario Bros 2 as far as I can remember, could it potentially be a reference of some kind?
Similarly, it also reminds me a bit of the Forest of Illusion in Super Mario World. Don't know why, but something about the ground and the tree design in the foreground really jumps out at me as 'Super Mario World inspired'.
On another note, the level themes shown seem to match up quite well to Super Mario Bros 2 as of this point. Think about it, SMB 2 has grass levels, forest levels, desert levels and ice/snow levels, and this game's currently known themes match this exactly.
May this game potentially turn out to be a reference to all three SMB games and not just the third one? What do you think?
