I've watched people play the older ones. The game mechanics sucked, I think most of their sales were based off guys buying the games so they could play with the angles and see through Lara's clothes.

There are better games for that

Because from what I hear this game is a much improved version so why would I want to go backwards?

I don't understand this logic. Each game is different, with different stories in a franchises, why not go backwards?

I kinda get what he means. Even if it is different, the concept is pretty much the same, except that the new one has an improved gameplay, better graphics, etc.
It would be like playing FF I and playing FF XIII.

They both have uniqueness. Plus I'd rather play a few older Final Fantasy titles over some of them now, so old does not equal worse.

Well now that I know XIII sucks, I would also rather play IV.
But if I never played any of them, I would rather play the newer one.
