Let's Playing tips needed!

So about two years ago I bought a Dazzle I've barely used, and want to start using it. Unfortunately, I do not have a very good PC, so recording the footage is my biggest problem.

I'm currently using AmarecTV to record the footage, it can last 10 seconds without dropping frames if I'm lucky. I need to know if there is another good video capturing software that's free, and gets decent frame rates, or good video codecs that I could use with amarec.

I've heard good things about Fraps, but i don't screen record much, so i can't say for sure. I think the easiest way would be to simply upgrade your computer.

Do you use laptop or desktop PC?

What are the specs?

Yeah most of the Let's Players I watch use Fraps. Actually just two.
