Main stream anime as the first recommendation....

Why do people don't recommend the main stream anime like naruto, one piece, bleach or some other shonen anime, for people who want to try out anime? Is it because of the length? I don't really get it to be honest...

Here in Japan too, young boy animation is looked by young boy, young girl, adult men, adult woman, etc.

Those who recommends mainstream anime don't know you very well. Cus if that person knows you, he will give an anime based on your taste and needs like DS said.
