Wii U Mario Kart 8 still Popular?

Question to the MK 8 owners, is this game still popular? I was thinking of picking it up for online.

I haven't checked online but most likely it is. I mean, it's Mario Kart =p

Mario Kart has always been a favorite series of mine. It is even more enjoyable when you play it with friends. So, the game will never decrease in it's playability, for me.

I don't know about other people though. It is likely that the game/series has a cult following but I'm not sure.
