Mario Kart vs Mario Kart 7 which is better?

Mario Kart 7 has some decent online features, and I really like the tracks which are long, e.g Wuhu Mountain or Rainbow Road. HOWEVER! It's lack of a single-player quickplay is quite annoying. If you want to just have one race on a speicific track, you have to do it in multiplayer.
 
You mean Mario Kart DS vs Mario Kart 7? Well honestly, I think it depends what you're after. If you like single player more, buy Mario Kart DS. It has a nice mission mode, is generally more difficult and seems like the better single player title.

But for the best Mario Kart game in general, Mario Kart 7 is the one to get/play. It's got by far the best tracks (Rainbow Road is superb for instance) and has the best retro tracks in the series. Liked Mario Kart DS? Well you'll probably like the fact Luigi's Mansion, Waluigi Pinball and Airship Fortress returned in this title. And the other retro tracks are generally very fun, with only really Luigi Raceway and DK Pass being 'disappointing' so to speak.

It's also got the best online multiplayer, with a nifty communities feature and the awesome and very much required point of being able to play any track you want online. That really bugged me about the DS game, since it basically meant any tracks people actually gave a damn about were unable to be played over wifi without hacking and those people thought were terrible were able to be played.

Additionally, it also has the better item selection, with few of the overpowered ones from the DS or Wii titles and a Blue Shell which works as more than a 'kick the winner' item. And hey, no fake item box isn't the worst thing ever, especially as it means you can always block an incoming red shell.

And it's less dominated by hackers and people using very specific gameplay mechanics. 'Snaking' is okay, but it dominates the game a bit too much in Mario Kart DS, whereas in Mario Kart 7 you get a more even playing field where mastering everything is required. And no one's hacked a 3DS yet, which means less overpowered item spam and cheaters.

In general, I'd say Mario Kart 7 is the better game.
 
I like the online setup and all with the 3DS one but I was dissapointed at the removal of quickplay (I think it's called VS mode), but I find I enjoy the 3DS one more

If you examine the reviews, I did a huge comparison to both games. Mario Kart DS was better for the single player and wireless non-wifi multiplayer. 7's not the best for online multiplayer with it's tendency to have the person in first be almost impossible to break out of first, but it's better than the limited item and capabilities of the wifi on DS and it's not as luck-based as Mario Kart Wii.

I personally like Mario Kart DS better because I have been playing it for ages.
 
Mario Kart 7 is my favorite of the series so far, I really dont see what else they could do with Mario Kart. Nintendo All-Stars Racing anyone? Putting the Blue Falcon up against Fox's Landmaster would be pretty sweet.
 
I think Mario Kart 7 is much better than Mario Kart DS. On Mario Kart 7 you can race with all kinds of people online and not just the person sitting next to you with the same game. And it has better levels and you can do tricks

And also get targeted buy a blue shell in 2nd place -_____- lol (No not accidentally hit,The thing can target you directly in 2nd place,which is BS)

mk7 by landslide way better graphics new cool items better online play new character new karts no hackers now for bad things loss of waluigi and dry bones but made up for dry bones by bringing him to life no more ghost power i hate the timed balloon battles and thats it
