Mario Tennis Open earns just a 7/10 from Nintendo Power?

Not good for the game is it? Especially coming from a publication that Nintendo themselves owns and manages.

For comparison, here's what they gave the other games in the series:

Mario Power Tennis: 74%
Mario Tennis Power Tour: 70%
Mario Tennis (N64): 91%
Mario Tennis (GBC): 100%

Now I don't own any copies of Nintendo Power so I don't know how generous they are with game scoring, but if my experience with their UK counterpart is correct, they're probably more positive towards Nintendo's games than most publications are.

This game being the lowest rated Mario Tennis game so far by Nintendo's own magazine gives me a bad feeling that other sites are going to slam it pretty hard in their reviews. I almost dread to see what the likes of Gamespot and Edge are going to give it...

So if you plan to buy this game, you might want to wait and see.

They can't do that!!! Have you played the game whoever rated it? Its not out, so how can you give the game a 7/10, you don't own the game. You can't judge a game by its cover, so once whoever rated this owns the game, you can't judge it now.

7/10 isn't bad.

I've played games and watched movies that scored worse than that and still enjoyed them.

But like you say, it's probably a bad start coming from a publication more likely to view them in a favourable light.
