Fillfall's right, unless if the actual rules for determining matches is changed, we won't be having a tournament of the same fashion as it's proven itself once that it's just far too sloppy to actually work.
I wouldn't mind joining a tournament if there wasn't any stupid rules like "You can't use certain characters".
The rules should really be "don't use glitches".... and that's it.
Maybe if you wish add a "don't deliberately ram people with a star, and then reverse back and forth over that player constantly" and general "don't troll", other than that:
Any character, any vehicle, any combination should be allowed.
Look, there's nothing wrong with the site here, what's wrong is the ruleset. Limiting people to only starting characters is alienating about half the game's fans, since you're stopping people using Wario, Daisy, Rosalina, Wiggler, Shy Guy, Lakitu, Queen Bee, their Mii or pretty much anyone else.
And to force people to exchange friend codes rather than use a community is awkward.
Instead of quitting, how about just this? Normal tournament rules, any character, no glitches, using the old community. Works for me and most people.
