Windows 7 was beautiful. I wish they would just make Windows 7 be their desktop OS and let Windows 8 be their mobile OS (you know, kinda like how it used to be!).
Agreed! I like Windows 7 as well. It actually felt like a good upgrade from XP, unlike vista.

lol 8 is trash even compared to Windows Millennium Edition. I have 8.1 and NOTHING is compatible with it. I can't even mod Diablo 1 or 2 to run on it :/

Yet another reason to like 7 over 8. 7 had better become the next XP which they support for years and years until they make another good OS.

8's really not so different once you get used to it! I was really nervous about it because my Surface Pro 2 came came with it, but once I messed with it a little, it's almost exactly the same. It does work way better with the touch screen though! I've heard talk that they're already working on a Windows 9 that will be more like traditional OS's though, that way they can get everyone happy again and try to get the bad memories of 8 covered up.
Do agree with Vincerific though, it really doesn't like older games much. My husband runs it on his desktop (Mine is still on 7) and he has all kinds of trouble trying to use anything that wasn't released within the last year or so. He can't get even get Mumble to work most of the time -_-;

Jeeze. We're talking about XP being old and you're using ME? I hope that's on a Virtual Box.

Who said I was using it still? I made no hint at such an occurrence. I was making an association of Windows 8 is worse than Windows ME in terms of MicroSoft's worst OS ever.
Lack of compatibility with older games makes me sad
I'm using Windows 7 but getting Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 to run was a pain, and it still doesn't run properly. The game will freeze up my entire system after running for 20 minutes unless I save the game continually (think of how in LOST they had to keep inputting the numbers to keep the timer from reaching 0). It really stinks when I get wrapped up in adding new rides, pathways, workers, etc. only to realize I forgot to save when my system freezes up!

Oh man, I'm still super disappointed I can't get Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition or Zoo Tycoon 2 Ultimate Edition to run on 7. I check online for solutions occasionally, but no dice. Compatibility issues suck big time. I have to save constantly when I'm drawing on my Surface because Manga Studio 5 EX is really unstable and will crash randomly all the time, which can be devastating when your in the middle of a sketch or painting or something. I've lost way too many good sketches because it doesn't play well with Windows 8 right now!
Zoo Tycoon 2 doesn't work!?!? I never played it but I loved the first 1, I'm guessing that doesn't work either....
These games need to be updated like Age of Empires II HD was.
I *think* the original Zoo Tycoon game and expansions work, probably as well as my original Age of Empires- it runs, but the graphics card I have is just too amazing for it, so it does weird things like making all the water pink. Which makes naval battles rather trippy! I loved Zoo Tycoon 2, but I've never been able to get it to work since upgrading to 7, so definitely don't waste your money on it! It's a great game, but hard as heck to get to run.
Incidently, have you heard Age of Mythology is getting an HD rerelease on Steam as well? SUPER EXCITED! Already preordered it in a 4-pack with friends XD
