Oh boy, all the bad signs are coming in:

So you're thinking of adding achievements?

Yeah, I like achievements. I know a lot of people don't, but I like them. I've had the idea to make achievements kind of like the in-game questing. So you'd be able to see the first achievement in a tree of achievements, and you have to unlock the top ones first before you can unlock the ones further down.

So the first one might be to chop down a tree, or kill a chicken, and then these branch into more things you can do. Hopefully it would encourage people to try new areas.

He eventually says stuff like it might involving killing a dragon or something. And stuff about narrative, which is a word suspiciously close to 'story'.

The really bad sign is this quote though:

Will Minecraft become a franchise?

I want to work on other games, but I think it would make sense to turn Minecraft into a franchise.

I hope this doesn't mean a ridiculous amount of sequels or anything, Activision style.

Achievements would give the game at least a little bit of direction. I don't even bother playing single player anymore because it feels like I've already done everything and seen everything there is to do.

A franchise? Like a new game coming out every year? Like COD? That seems............... I dunno. But I don't like it that much.

Hmmmmmm............... Achievements. I don't see anything wrong unless they're overwhelmingly boring and unimaginative like, "Travel a distance of, 100 miles" or something like that.

He's always wanted to add achievements. But you need to realize, when he says achievements, he actually means what it's defined by. Not some stupid crap like "Load your first world!" or "Craft a sword!". He wants to add ones that require real effort and everyone who plays supports it.

As for the franchise, again, he's had that in mind from the start. He's adding expansions(which are already free for people who bought it prior to beta, and costs for people who bought at beta).

To be honest, if you didn't follow Notch from the start, you will probably misinterpret anything he says. He's much smarter than that. Though he is pretty lazy.

He can be Lazy, but have you seen the video of him coding a game in 24 hours? It was very interesting. He codes fast and the video shows his preferences of being able to see things he codes immediately with visuals so he knows it's working. I thought it was pretty cool.

I've never been against anything Notch really wanted for minecraft and still support him. It's his game and he's not a stupid person. He knows what he wants and he's not going to water it down with stupid crap to ruin it.

Yeah, exactly. He's insanely good. The game was actually fun too.

And yeah, he's smart, like I said. He won't ruin Minecraft.
