Well, I think he was against it for a while before this too. But in a recent interview, he confirmed his feelings on the technology with this comment:

Basically, he doesn't like how players are 'closed off from the real world', and he wants people playing for a long time (which is hard to do in VR). I guess the logic makes some sense, especially for Nintendo and their love of local multiplayer games.
But what do you think? Is Miyamoto right or wrong to be wary of the technology?
I would agree that adapting Mario to new platforms is a key to keeping him relevant. But we want families to play together, and virtual reality (which requires players to be closed off from the real world) doesn't really fit well there. We also like people playing for a long time, and it's hard to do that in VR
