Money or Poverty : Which is the root of evil?

There's a popular saying religiously that money is the root of all evil. But personally, I don't buy that assessment. I feel that it's poverty that's the root of all evil. Poverty is what drags you into evil in order to make money and get out of it.

What are your thoughts?
Money is the root of all evil.

I would never have anything to do with poverty. Poverty is a curse, I've never seen anyone who's sane and reasonable that it very comfortable with being poor and suffering.

Many who are in poverty didn't choose it. Some are in it due to bad decisions, drugs, mental health issues.
Money is not evil, it's how we choose to spend it that can make it so.

In the world where human purchasing power lies in money, how can someone tag money to be evil? It doesn't make any sense at all but I don't blame some persons for having their own awkward opinion.

Both....I think extreme poverty... Or money can make people do things...
Money can make people greedy and extreme poverty can turn them into predators... It will be down to survival after all ...

Money is the root of all evil. Especially when it pertains to countries fighting over oil and other things.

Or when someone turns on you over money and they refuse to pay you back.

Another thing is when people decide to push things to the masses that aren’t true as they get paid from social media sites to push certain topics.

I wouldn’t say that poverty is evil as it’s a foundation that you can work and get out of. I was raised in poverty and it took my family along time to get out of it, but we did it.
