Looks good:

I don't like the drifting though. I mean, what was wrong with the Mario Kart 64/Double Dash/DS type? Yes, people were 'snaking', but hey, if Nintendo toned it down to appeal to complainers and people who wanted Mario Party go kart edition, that seems a silly reason to change it. I hope not all future Mario Kart games will end up with this system.

I am however very interested in the tracks, gliding and underwater parts of the game.

This is highly speculative, but it would be cool if the coins you got in-race went to an in-game store system where you could buy more parts.

Actually that's what a lot of people are assuming. I mean, OK, they can make you go faster, but then, you'd expect a bit more than just that? You know, maybe a reward for collecting x coins in an entire cup.

I thought I read somewhere that the drifting was like the DS version, but now I just don't know. Also, darn those coins. I never was a fan of collecting coins, I'd always lose the damn things and then die.

I absolutely hated coins back in Super Circuit. God, having to collect coins to get decent letter grades and unlock content? Utterly moronic. Even worse how you bloody lose them when you get hit, meaning that the AI drives with impunity, you get screwed out of decent ranks and content worse than usual, and if you had no coins and even got touched by the AI or another player, you just spun out like if you'd hit a banana peel.

If that stuff is in this game, there will be much rage.

I think it looks fantastic. I'll defniitely buy it.
BUT THE COINS! THE COOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIINS! *shakes head*

They better only be speed enhancements, because trying to collect coins WHILE coming first WHILE dodging blue shells and trying to get a three star rank will have the neighbours not being to get any sleep due to my rampant screaming.

Excuse my noobidity, but can someone explain to me the difference between drifting in Mario Kart DS, for example, and the drifting in this game? I can't tell the difference. I can't see what buttons are being pressed so I can't see how it's different.

The main difference is in the controls. Another way to visually tell is how fast it takes to reach the full drift. From watching the video, the guy seems to hold the drift in the blue stage long enough for it to go orange, but it doesn't go orange, which hints to me that the old DS drifting style is back, but that's just because I remember reading that article that said DS styled drifting had returned (it's in another topic I made regarding Mario Kart 7 here).

Basically, the difference between Mario Kart DS and this game's drifting is simple:

In the DS game, you hold R and move the D Pad left and right to power up the drift, and release for a mini turbo.

In the Wii game (and this game) you hold R and go around a corner, and it automatically powers up the mini turbo thing based on time spent drifting. Again, when you release R you mini turbo.

Oh ok... interesting. Well be'll just have to wait and see. Same thing with the Blue Shells, we'l just have to wait and see.

It bothers me a bit that it sounds EXACTLY like wii. Just listen to the audio and you'd think it was MKW
