It’s no secret that the bulk of AAA games market revenues come from in-game purchases, mostly from live-service games.

It’s also impossible to ignore that the live-service market is fiercely competitive. Thanks to the oversaturated attention economy, only so many consumer hours are available.

I think many gamers prefer offline gaming because they can more slowly explore levels in a game like a RPG game, and do side quests in offline games.

I prefer offline game with a good story over online multiplayer gaming where I challenge other players.

Plus, sometimes online games sometimes match players with players who cheat, are a lot better than me, and beginners who can all make gaming not as fun for some people.

A lot of people may still have slower and less reliable internet connections like basic DSL and cable internet which can cause lag when gaming which can affect the gaming experience for all players in the online game especially team games where you need to play as a team to beat your opponents.

Single player gamers are the silent majority, drowned out by the vocal majority of competitive gamers. This can give people an unrealistic perspective that MP gaming is the primary type.
 
I feel bandwidth limits on some internet service provider plans may make more people choose to play offline games because they are afraid that playing online games for many hours per day may use up all their bandwidth/data. Some users may need to pay expensive bandwidth overage fees which can cost many dollars per hour depending on how much does data cost after going over their data allowance limit.
