Dang I've seen too many movies, it's really hard to narrow down a list. I want to see Walter Mitty, it's on my Netflix queue right now! Silver Linings Playbook is really good, very funny.
Here's my list of movies:
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - immortalized Clint Eastwood Sunrise - old, one of the last silent films nominated for an Academy Award It's a Wonderful Life - old feel good movie with great actors and a great message Inception - everyone probably knows this one already Beauty and the Beast - Disney at its height Jurassic Park - classic 90s pseudoscience with impressive dinosaurs, even to this day (seeing this at the IMAX was a treat) 12 Angry Men - another old movie with great performances and an engaging court room drama Lord of the Rings trilogy - my precious Casablanca - classic classic classic The Godfather - Watch the trilogy, very entertaining and in depth look at a reluctant rise to power amongst the Italian mob in America The Dark Knight - Heath Ledger's interpretation of the Joker is now iconic Gladiator - There was a dream that was Rome; this movie is an emotional roller coaster and the music is beautiful The Prestige - This movie about magic will have you tricked right up to the very end. Batman vs Wolverine is great Anchorman - Will Ferrel at the top of his game before he had to resort to filthy language to get only the most basic laughs Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - makes you want to march on Washington right now, a definite classic Shutter Island - Quite a few great actors in this thriller, Leo is great Hotel Rwanda - You'll cry, and if you were born in the 90s you need to watch this to learn about our very intense recent history The Sixth Sense - Plot twist makes it A Christmas Story - I'm from Indiana so I gotta rep this famous Christmas movie based out of Indiana Gangs of New York - Historically inaccurate, but an entertaining look at New York's early days, Leo and Daniel Day-Lewis perform
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - Chuckles all around, if you just want a good, innocent laugh, watch this movie Minority Report - Great (and terrifying) Sci-Fi story The Last Samurai - Great historical movie on Japan's cultural shift from Samurai's to westernized armies
Crash - You'll cry, probably
Midnight in Paris - Not historical in story, but it introduces a lot of famous people from the past and brings them to life on the screen
American History X - Great drama on race relations in the US, Edward Norton gives one of his greatest performances
Fight Club - Great movie about feeling alive in a time where the daily routine feels like a prison
Moonrise Kingdom - Quirky and entertaining, check it out, it has some great actors
I'm at work so I had to take those from a list I made a while ago on another forum. Once I get home I'll look over my Netflix and see what else is great.
You liked R.I.P.D.? It got ripped on by critics. I saw it at the drive in and I though it was pretty funny although I was also really tried at the time since it was the second movie of the double feature (first was The Wolverine). Jeff Bridges was pretty entertaining.
Pacific Rim - Loved the hell out of this movie. Giant robots fighting it out with giant monsters.
This is Spinal Tap - A comedic goldmine.
Goon - Good movie for hockey fans.
Godzilla (1954) - A timeless classic. Watch it with a grain of salt because the special effects may seem a little cheesy, but for the time, the special effects were top notch.
Hot Fuzz - Good spoof of cop movies.
I'm sure I have more, I'm a little lazy to name them all, lol.
Idiocracy - If you haven't seen this one I highly recommend it, I lold.
Oh god yes. I haven't seen the whole movie that isn't uncensored, but it's great. The funny thing is Windows 8 looks like the tv from Idiocracy. It's really scary.
