My computer screen went black

So my computer suddenly went black, and then I forced it off. Its a serious problem or not? I mean, me forcing it off? And the screen going black?

some years, but yeah, i've been able to turn it on once again. And its not happened since.

mse says no threats whatsoever on my computer.

I don't see how the programs could have affected the monitor unless it was the machine that caused the screen to go black.

I heard Windows sometimes fail to wake up from Sleep because of a Windows or software bug related to something running in the background stopping the monitor from turning on.

I didn't put it to stand by or sleep at all. out of the blue, it started to heat up and the fan just didn't seem to work at all.

There should be a brand name on the monitor.

Are you talking about a laptop's monitor since the monitor model is usually printed on the frame of the screen, or is on a sticker on the back of the monitor?

whats it read? As far as brand name? HP, dell, ASUS, ect.

I don't think MSE (guessing you mean Microsoft Security Essentials) is a good AV. I suggest getting AVG

I must disagree, MSE is excellent to use and I was very unhappy with AVG.

Your video drivers could have crashed, or your video card could be nearing the end of its life.
