UPDATE: So the new games are:

Silent Hill Townfall, developed by Observation and Stories Untold and Silent Hill f is developed by Neobards Entertainment, with story by Ryukishi07, creature and character design by kera, and produced by former Nintendo developer Motoi Okamoto.

Read from VGC:

AestheticGamer, previously known as Dusk Golem, posted four images of what they claimed were a “Silent Hill leak”, adding that while they originated from a source that was new to them, they had been given “more than enough proof to believe them”.

Within hours the pictures were removed from Twitter and replaced with a message stating: “This image has been removed in response to a report from the copyright holder”.

The images show a messy room, a red corridor with notes covering the wall and a figure standing at the end, and a woman’s face that has been partially unpeeled with messages like ‘I hate myself’ and ‘minger’ exposed underneath her skin.

One of the images appears to be concept art dated October 20, 2020, and signed by Masahiro Ito, the monster designer and art director on the original Silent Hill trilogy.

As well as the use of the word ‘minger’ in one image, graffiti on one wall seemingly paraphrases “he’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy”, a line from Monty Python’s The Life of Brian. Both terms suggest that if this is indeed a new Silent Hill game, it may have a British influence.

When sharing the screens, AestheticGamer wrote: “There’s a lot I’m not sharing for now. This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them. I also will mention the names ‘Anita & Maya’, ‘SMS Messages’, and this is not the only Silent Hill game in development.

“The shots are a bit dated, from 2020, so maybe this project looks a bit different now. But [this is] what I’m choosing to share. I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private proof to show this is real, and as always I continue to wait on the Silent Hill game reveal.”

The images were then removed on Twitter “by the copyright holder”, before AestheticGamer’s Twitter account was temporarily locked following a DMCA notice.

Multiple Silent Hill projects in development; including new mainline entry & side "stories"

Details are emerging on what some of those projects could look like. As first mentioned by influencer NateTheHate and journalist Jeff Grubb, one of the in-development titles could be a remake of fan-favourite 2001 instalment Silent Hill 2.

This matches with what VGC has heard from our own sources. It’s claimed that the remake will feature reworked AI, animations, puzzles and several new endings, and potentially release as a timed exclusive on PlayStation consoles.

The Medium studio has been linked to the Silent Hill franchise constantly over the past 18 months. Last year the Polish developer announced a “strategic co-operation agreement” with Konami, months after Bloober’s CEO claimed it was working on an existing horror IP from “a very famous gaming publisher”.

Silent Hill’s composer Akira Yamaoka even worked on Bloober’s 2021 title The Medium and teased his next game project by stating that it was “the one you’ve been hoping to hear about.”

Bloober Team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

But as VGC and insiders have reported previously, we understand Konami has been actively talking to several developers about reviving the Silent Hill IP, across multiple games.

One of those projects is intended to be a smaller, episodic series of “short stories”, we were told. Sources have previously indicated that Until Dawn studio Supermassive had once been involved in talks for such a project, which eventually evolved into its Dark Pictures games.

One new name two people independently gave VGC was Annapurna Interactive, the acclaimed publisher behind games such as Sayonara Wild Hearts, Outer Wilds and Telling Lies, which they said could be involved in the ‘stories’ project.

However, they said many studios had been involved in pitches for Silent Hill, and it’s possible Annapurna was simply involved in one of those discussions rather than a project that was eventually greenlit.

Finally, VGC has been told that Konami is planning to release a new mainline entry in the Silent Hill series. It’s not clear who is leading the game, but VGC reported last year that a Japanese studio was working on a Silent Hill project.

Read from VGC:

The studio behind The Medium, Layers of Fear and Blair Witch has regularly been linked to the Silent Hill franchise over the past 18 months. Last year it announced a “strategic co-operation agreement” with Konami, months after Bloober’s CEO claimed it was working on an existing horror IP from “a very famous gaming publisher”.

“We can’t comment on anything we are doing because we appreciate our relationship with our partners, of course,” Babieno said on the matter. “So we can’t [say] anything.

“We will make an announcement about our future projects as soon as we can,” he added. “So, then you will know much more. Officially.”

Referencing an upcoming title, although not necessarily the one its working on with Konami, Babieno stressed the importance of being able to put the studio’s own spin on its games, even if it isn’t the IP holder.

“I would say that it’s hard to work with someone who [owns an IP you’re working on], but we are always talking with those licensors, [saying] ‘Guys we would like to use your license, but we would like to tell our own story.’

“If we are not able to tell our own story, if we will not have creative freedom, it doesn’t make sense, because Bloober Team will not make a great game.

“If you are in a prison, you will not be able to fly. So that’s why we are trying to only [make] those titles in which we are feeling, ‘OK, it will be a Bloober Team game, not someone [else’s].’ So even on the project we can’t talk [about], it will still be a Bloober Team title.”

Can't wait to see people play this and mimic British stereotypes as well.
Probably the British silent hill was just a pitch or a test game thing.

Read from VGC, Silent Hill Movie director said there are multiple Silent Hill Games In Development:

The comments were made during a recent French video interview (translated by Resetera), in which director Christophe Gans claimed there are currently multiple Silent Hill games in development by several teams.

Gans directed the 2006 Silent Hill movie and has reportedly written the script for a new production.

“I know a bit about the [next Silent Hill game]. I work with the Silent Team, the original creators. I work in collaboration with Konami,” he reportedly said.

“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise, I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games.”

When the interviewer asked who is developing the games, Gans replied: “It’s Konami, there are several games.”

The director’s comments match with various media reports about Konami’s upcoming plans for Silent Hill, but it’s not clear if he is corroborating the stories or simply repeating them.
