In a special 50 New Things in Smash Bros. Wii U.Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo offered a look at the new stages heading to the Wi U version.
There will be more stages in Smash Bros. for Wii U than in the 3DS version and of any game in the series. Several levels were shown off during the Direct such as a Wuhu Island stage and a Mario Circuit stage .
The Great Cave Offensive, an underground labyrinth that originally appeared in Kirby Super Star on the SNES, is a new stage in the Wii U version. It features a several danger zones that players can use to their advantage in battle. Players who reach 100 percent will be blasted out of the arena if they hit a danger zone.
Based on Donkey Kong Country Returns, the Dual-plane Jungle Hijinxs stage lets players jump between the foreground and background while battling. Players can use barrels to attack opponents from front to back and vice versa.
The expanded Big Battlefield debuts in the Wii U version, in addition to the traditional Battlefield Stage, and offers bigger stages for 6 to 8 player battles.
One special stage that won’t be ready for the release of the game is called Mii Verse. Once the service is live, the Miiverse stage will display messages from players in the background.
Characters Ridley and Metal Face stage hazards in some stages. Attack Ridley enough in the Pyrosphere stage in Smash Bros. for Wii U he will join and fight on a player's team.
