The 3ds plays mp3s that's awesome. im glad they finally did that.
However i think Nintendo is blocking all the songs with curse words. the mp3s simply wont work.
now im not positive on this fact. but i would like to get some input.
has anyone else had this problem? ive looked in the parental controls and there's no control over it.

I wouldn't have though it would do that without any parental settings. But i have found that it won't play an entire album i loaded onto it. I'm at a loss as to why.

I have a song that says tits and it accepts that

... lol.

What happens if you put this song on there?

What Format is ur music?
It's MP3, and it plays fine both on my PC and on my MP3 player, but for some reason the 3DS doesn't like it.

That's just ridiculous. Unless there's a sharing option, there's no reason for censorship.

Not the same problem, but it's similar; sometimes when I import an MP3 into Adobe Flash, it just won't accept it, even though it plays fine in all sorts of media programs. The solution? I load the MP3 into Audacity and export it out again, and Flash seems to accept the MP3 again. Could be a minor issue like that, but then again, I'm not certain.

It's unlikely to be an issue like that when you don't use anything to export the files. You just drag and drop them onto the SD card.

Well, some MP3s I've downloaded off the Internet or gotten from a CD won't go into Flash at all, so re-saving them as an MP3 in Audacity generally works.

Basically, I highly doubt Nintendo's put in some form of music-filtering system. I mean, how hard is it to change the meta-data of a song, especially an MP3 file; not that hard. You could just change the name of the file, change other stuff, or just record the song again digitally and save it to bypass it if the filtering even did exist (which I'm sure it doesn't). It's either a console or file problem, but I'm going to blame the file first and foremost before I blame the console, so somebody should try mucking around with an MP3 that isn't being played by the 3DS and tell us the results.

It does indeed work if i export them through Audacity.
I can only assume that there's something in the coding of the original MP3 that the 3DS doesn't like.

It does? That's awesome to hear then!

I'd say that's about right too, just one of those tiny little things.

If you save an MP3 in Audacity as an MP3 please, for the love of God, make sure you go to the preferences in Audacity, and set it so that MP3s are encoded at 256-320 kbps, and not 128

I have Highway to Hell, and that works just fine... :/
Oh yeah, I found out that all my iTunes songs work perfect on the 3DS.

That's good to hear then. I was getting worries. I'm getting my 3DS soon.

Heh, like I said, unless the 3DS could pop into the meta data of a song, which I highly doubted it would, it can't really ban songs. And besides, a sneaky person could alter the meta data to avoid said blocking anyway, making it useless, considering anybody has the programs to simply edit a song title, etc.

It's not even possible for the 3DS to do that. Because songs are different. Maybe the could block out clear words with barely any tune, but that's it.
