Takahashi was quoted as saying, “Physical controllers for smart device applications are available in the market and it is possible that we may also develop something new by ourselves. I believe Nintendo’s way of thinking is to look at whether action games are really not impossible (without a physical controller for smart device applications) to create and how we can make it happen to create such a game.”
Of course this is not a guarantee that Nintendo will create accessories for smartphone games, but they are at the very least looking into the possibility.

I think Nintendo releasing game controllers for smartphones, tablets, and PCs could help them get more fans who may buy a Wii U or 3DS if they like the controller which they bought for their smartphone, tablet, or PC.
