Pre-orders for Nintendo‘s new console went live in Europe and the UK this week, following the firm’s Nintendo Direct presentation. Now, Nintendo has said that it won’t open pre-orders to customers in the US yet due to the country’s turbulent financial situation.
“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” Nintendo said in a statement to GameSpot.
“Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”

Nintendo should have released their console sooner so this wouldn't be an issue.

Can’t blame Nintendo for one country’s current economic situation, though. I’m frustrated with the length of time between consoles, too… but at the end of the day, there are other factors at play here. All we can do is hope that it won’t be too expensive due to everything going on in America. It’ll almost certainly cost more than what we expect, though.

At the end of the day, the later a console releases, the more money you can save before planning on these things.

Vietnam's PM Pham and Trump are going renegotiate the tariffs back to where they were before with Vietnam/US, this should have some positive effect on Nintendo Switch 2 price in the States, aside from the fact that there's no point of Trump's crazily high reciprocal tariffs in the first place. Will see...
