We have heard lots of stuff about "Nintendo is not for real gamers" but is it really true? Do you think that people who played Nintendo game should be called "Fake gamers" or "Kids"?

In my opinion, there are some games that are specially made for kids in Nintendo games, but we can found similar genre in Sony or Xbox as well. But don't you think it is unfair to describe all of us who used Nintendo as "Fake gamers"?

Do you think if someone never play "Crysis" or "Gears of Wars" then they are not real gamers? Do you need to play those games to make you a real gamer?

Please leave your comment~

I'll tell you now that there aren't any Nintendo games made especially for kids. There a plenty on the Wii and DS by over developers, just as there are plenty on the 360 and PS3. But there are none made by Nintendo themselves.
With the exception of certain games that are made as tie-ins to kiddies TV series', there is no such thing as a game for kids. A gamer can play whatever they like.
It's only idiots and rabid 360/PS3 fanboys that describe being a 'gamer' as you state. A Mario, Zelda or Pokemon game is just as complex (in fact often more so) than the first-person shooters they play. In fact if they only play one or two different games, all in the same genre, then that defines they themselves as casual gamers.

I also has the same opinion as you. For me, as long as you play games, no matter what game it is, you're a real gamer. But quite a lot of people says Nintendo is not for real gamers. It is as you said that mostly fanatic fans of 360 or PS3 describe the real gamers as what I had mentioned earlier which are totally wrong. Nintendo Wii clearly dominated the home consoles for almost 5 years, maybe they are jealous about it. We also know that 360 or PS 3 has better graphic and so on than Nintendo Wii but that's the uniqueness of Nintendo. They don't need those graphic to capture the attention of many people. It would be better to have graphic + gameplay but I don't mind to have an average graphic + better gameplay.

Actually, surprisingly few people are of the opinion that Nintendo games are not for gamers.
The problem is that they are a very vocal minority.

This just reminds me of a kid I used to go to school with who said "Mario games were for babies" and whatnot, and with that logic, I was a "baby". This is coming from an XBox guy who liked his racing and FPS games, so he fit the stereotype of uninformed idiot perfectly, heh.

A game's a game. Play a game, then you're a gamer. Watch a movie, then you're a movie watcher. Drive a car, and you're a driver. It all makes sense really, but there's those few people who just want to feel superior, and if it means dissing other products, then they'll do just that.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo games aren't for "Real gamers" needs to have something shoved up their ass. Preferably their own internal organs.

I tried to play gears of wars at a friends and it was the worst game ive ever played

Gears of War and Crysis are great games and tons of gamers play them. But so is Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda. All games are for "gamers". Some people like certain genres over others, and it's unfair to try to insult other genres because you don't particularly like them. I don't like pop or rap music but I don't hate their music. I think those artists are very talented and I'm just not a fan. It's a bit ridiculous that people find it necessary to bash things they dislike. I happen to love FPS games and racing games, but I still like Nintendo's games. I like Pokemon and Mario games just as much.

So he's an uninformed idiot because he plays Xbox and FPS games?
So fighting a stereotype with another stereotype makes sense?
I don't understand the logic here, because if I remember correctly, if one person uses stereotypes, then they're bad, and if both sides were using them, would they not be equally as bad?

People still call themselves "real gamers"? I thought we got over that in middle school.

Can we all agree that the Wii controller is quite possibly the worst controller ever created? Sure the N64 controller looked like it was made for people who have three arms to play but at-least it had an analog stick that was part of the controller and not an attachment.

I like the Wii remote and Nunchuck (assuming they are used together, of course).
Sure, the Wii remote is a bit too long, so reaching the 1 and 2 buttons can be rather awkward, but i really like the fact that both halves of the controller are separate, meaning i don't have to have may hands together when playing.

I do like not having both of my hands so close together, I get kinda restless easy.

I was just talking about the Wii remote without any attachments. It doesn't feel like it was meant for playing video games.

I'm not stereotyping him because he played them, but he acted exactly like the stereotype that's been developed by others, which was rather annoying. I definitely don't think all people who play XBox or FPS games or racing games are uniformed idiots, I guess I just worded it badly.

Most of my friends don't like Wii games, but at least I know they've played some of them. They don't insult the system usually (and when they do they're just talking about some unanimously crappy third-party title) and they don't care about the distinction between hardcore gamers and... whoever else. And they'd never say the Wii was for kids, considering all of us played Halo when we were like nine. :3

I think the difference is that Sony and Microsoft never managed to sell or be successful with their kids games and mini games as well as all the other genres run by Nintendo by now. Of course Nintendo has plenty of hard core games as well, it just did very well in an area which was basically almost non-profitable for Sony and Microsoft.. at least I haven't heard of any successful game of the same genre on these consoles

I work at a Video Game shop where we carry almost every console and video game releases from NES to beyond. Almost every customer that comes through our doors goes gaga when they see our NES/SNES/N64 section. It isn't just nostalgia, it's them telling us stories of having marathon gaming sessions, big parties, passing the controller around with the family, "study time", etc. 90% of the time they buy the old Nintendo consoles and as soon as we get an N64 in, it's swiped up and bought by a Regular who normally buys hardcore FPS that quickly.

So what I'm trying to say is whether it be Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, gaming is universal. There is not one set definition. Just frickin' enjoy your games you spent with your hard earned and stop neglecting them as you fight on the internet about them. HAHAHAHA!

Now if you please excuse me, I'm going to play some Pokemon Black, then hop online with my friends to play some Halo Reach, and top it off with some Blazblue on my PS3.

Uhh, wow... and here I thought gamers were people who play games... how can you not be a real gamer if you play games, unless Nintendo don't make real games? But wait.. Nintendo games seem pretty real... I'M SO CONFUSED!
And you have two of the same option.

I don't think.. that is, it's.... I don't... what?

Games are games...no matter what system they reside on, and we the people that play these games and talk about them...are Gamers. It makes no difference who the developer is...it's all about personal preference. I like a little of every kind of game.
