Nintendo is bringing back one of its old ideas – the Virtual Boy. But this time, it’s not a console. It’s a $100 accessory for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
KTLA’s Rich DeMuro says you put your Switch into the viewer and then look inside to play classic 3D games using stereoscopic lenses. No extra screen or power is needed.
There are seven games at launch, with more coming later this year.
You’ll also need a paid Nintendo Switch online subscription. The Nintendo Switch Lite is not compatible.
Virtual Boy launches Feb. 17 with a cardboard version to follow. You can learn more here.
This gadget was niche at best when it first launched and even more so today, but retro enthusiasts and anyone who had the original might appreciate it.
