Announced via a separate notice that was a part of Nintendo's latest earnings update, the company confirmed that the Switch 2's MSRP will be going up pretty much everywhere. Most regions won't have to pay more for a new Switch 2 until September 1, 2026, apart from Japan, where the cost of the console will be increasing later this month, on May 25.
In the US, the cost of the Switch 2 will be increasing from its $449.99 launch price to $499.99 starting from September 1. The same price hike is being applied in Canada, where the Switch 2 will jump from $629.99 to $679.99, while the cost of the console will go up by 30 euros in Europe.
"We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding," Nintendo's notice reads. It points to the changes in market conditions as the driving force behind why it has felt the need to follow in its competitors' footsteps and raise the price of its consoles.
