That's what they're saying to all this controversy over no same sex marriages in the game anyway. Here's their quote:

Nintendo never intended to make any form of social commentary with the launch of 'Tomodachi Life,' The relationship options in the game represent a playful alternate world rather than a real-life simulation. We hope that all of our fans will see that 'Tomodachi Life' was intended to be a whimsical and quirky game, and that we were absolutely not trying to provide social commentary.

So yeah, your thoughts on this? I know some people have taken it all wrong and seem to be attacking the company for not changing a Japanese game to be all pro equality at a whim, but come on. I think there's more important things for them to spend their money on. Like advertising. Or new games. Or patching games that actually need it like Mario & Luigi Dream Team and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.

Honestly though, while I would have personally avoided releasing the original patch to begin with (this bug was a positive addition to the game that made it more enjoyable for quite a few people, and hence should have been left as an unintended feature), I do think some of the complaints here might be a tad excessive. I mean, no offence to the 'Miiquality' campaign (yes, apparently that's a real thing now), but... it's a video game we were never originally meant to get in the first place which was never meant to reflect anything in the real world. Perhaps it's best to chill out a bit, maybe wait for Tomodachi Life 2 or something.
