The "list of stuff" is common sense. You're going to need pen and paper. If you're in a math class, you're going to need a calculator & ruler. If you're in an art class, you're going to need pencils. You don't really need much more than that.

I've never had that happen. In elementary school I used to go to they require you only use yellow HB pencils but you can ignore all that, no one is going to tell you not to use whatever pencil you have. They also had a bunch of other completely pointless stuff on the list. I have learnt not to go by the school's lists and just use common sense. :P

If you stick to safe sites, antivirus really isn't needed but it's still a fools game to not have it.
