Our Economy & Where It's Going

Consumer spending will be greatly reduced. Maybe as much as 75% or more.

Unemployment will rise as consumer spending is cut, because many... "unnecessary" industries may go six feet under (I'm thinking 75-90% of them, just a random guess). Graphic designers, drafters, building designers, hair salons, and so on may go out of business quickly.

Those who have jobs guaranteed: Government workers, doctors, firefighters, law enforcement, military personnel, teachers and so on. Basically, those whom are necessary to the survival of American society will have jobs guaranteed...

Jobs that are most likely to be lost: Movie industry, entertainment industry, anything that is unnecessary to life, I feel. Lots of banks will go, too... That means the jobs of Janitors, IT professionals (Dammit), bankers, secretaries, etc. anyone employed by a bank will lose their job too. Two exceptions to this rule that I can think of: Pentagon Federal Credit Union, and Bank of America.

damn it's a bad time to be a American or for that fact a bank owner or someone on wall street. I assume that many computer jobs are necessary since I plan to go into that field for my future job.

I AM in that field:

that field is big, are they getting rid of all of it? because the US is almost living on computers.

Which means marketing and sales of companies will plummet if you say the jobs you think are going to dwindle do. Companies depend on graphics designers and web designers to sell their products. Did you know that the color and design of a logo is 80% more likely to be remember if it was pleasant or eye catching, compared to a more plain one? That's EIGHTY PERCENT. That's HUGE.

Almost everything is going on the internet as well. Sales, marketing, advertisement. All in which graphic and web designers take part in.

I feel those jobs will go up, but I feel less needed things to the actual economy will drop.

Yeah, but Jeez, if I lose my job (which I doubt) I'm gonna be pissed OFF.

Two things:

1) Be a Webmaster--make sites--you'll make lots of cash, and it's fairly easy.

2) Don't take my plan you little...*mumbles*

I feel bad for anyone that does lose their job because of this economic downfall. I am lucky to be in a career that already has a shortage and is very needed.

I hope things pick up soon, but I know it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better (though gas prices have been going down and are now under $3/gallon). My poor 401K is getting hit hard. I've been thinking about pulling out my funds for a while so I don't keep losing money.

I can tell you right now sea that pulling out your money is bad. it's true that people are losing 401k's and their stocks but this will return sometime in the future and unless you plan to retire soon your better off leaving it in the bank.
