Paying $20 for Twitter's account verification?

The blue checkmark was meaningless shit to begin with, so I don’t get why people are so butthurt over this.

Outside of buisiness stuff, it was really just bragging rights.
I completely agree with you on this!! It's not worth the money.

Some get it for bragging rights too. It kind of make you look different on Twitter.

A different look that doesn't add any extra value lol.

When everyone can pay for the verification, even if they are shitty people on Twitter, what value does that hold for the verification except for adding more money to Elon Musk's account?

I think Twitter has change the verification policy, so not everyone can be verified. I read on https://techreport.com/software/3486433/twitter-extends-account-verification-period/ that new users need to wait 90 days before they can verify their account.

Many regular users may more likely trust a username with a verified logo even if people paid for the blue check mark.

I'm not making Elon Musk $8 richer paying for that nonsense. I don't have any need for it and I never will.

It seems like a very pricey proposition from X. It's true that the verification can lend you lots of credibility but $20/month seems very steep for many users.
