People getting their 3DS blocked

Does anyone know of anyone getting their 3DS blocked by the "famous" firmware update by Nintendo that blocks your 3DS forever?

Yes, I'm talking about the flashcards issue and people using pirate games in flashcards such as the R4i.
I've read lots of posts (I'm sure you are very fond of this already) saying that Nintendo announced that your 3DS can log in its memory if you are using flashcards, and when you go online it will notify Nintendo, and then you get your 3DS blocked by installing one of their updates.

So people that use flashcards for OTHER purposes different from playing pirate games get affected too.

For example, I would love to play old classics from the NES 8-bit on my 3DS (titles which are not available on the Virtual Console yet). So it would be awesome to use an emulator within the flashcard.

So I have my brand new 3DS which I purchased 2 days ago, but I am really concerned about using a flashcard as the R4i.

Has anyone actually reported having their 3DS blocked ???

Thanks!

I used to use an Acekard when I could not but games in stores back then (Nintendo is not in EVERY country you know) The only problem is after every 3DS firmware update the card is unusable, showing "An error has

occurred" every time I try to start Acekard, but not as serious as "bricking your 3DS"

They can't do that. It's illegal. Same as for people rooting the iPod Touch or iPhone
"Rooting" is for Android, "Jailbreak" is for iPhone

And according to the U.S. law Jailbreaking is legal.
Meant that apple can't disable peoples iphones...

Thanks for your reply.

So is it easy to recover from that error? Or your Acekard became unusable?

You need to wait for the official site of Acekard to release an update package, that may take a while. You can consider updating your 3DS after the flachcard update or use a DS to update it.

My acekard works fine, and it is unblockable as it masks itself as a ds game now. Get AKAIO firmware and update your card via the newer update methods. (look into it)

Nintendo cannot block your system, don't worry...I've updated many times with the card inserted in the slot and in my "play log".

Acekard is pretty reliable and has a descent UI.

Thank you guys for all your responses.

Acekard sounds like a wise choice then. A couple more questions:

1) So the worst case scenario, would be that I cannot use my Acekard anymore (let's say that the company disappears or whatever...). But my 3DS would remain intact and I would be able to play my original 3DS games, correct? I mean, it hasn't happened to anyone that they couldn't turn on their 3DS because they were getting an error at the startup (except if they had the Acekard inserted). Right?

2) Can you please recommend me a couple "trustworthy" retailers for the Acekard, that you've had good experiences with? I'm in Canada.

Thanks a lot, people!

Excellent. I was going to buy an R4i for my 3DS but now I can rely on Acekard instead. Is it just Acekard or other versions of Acekard supported as well?

Well you need an Acekard2i, and sometimes when nintendo updates the acekard becomes unreadable by the 3ds which is fixable by running an update file by downloading it and running the ackard on a DS Model and clicking the update file. Even if the company goes away, you are in the clear because AKAIO is a custom firmware made by a group of coders and somebody will always pick up on it. AKAIO works better than the original acekard firmware and is frequently updated as more games are released Acekard's website has a bunch of sellers and such. I cannot give you any links to anything as it is against the rules to distribute this type of stuff here.

I have encountered "error at startup" problems, I panicked, but don't worry, all you have to do is to re-insert your game card (or SD card) and your problem is fixed.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you exactly mean by "DS Model"? I need another DS, such as a DS Lite or a DSi?

Thanks.

After you update your 3DS you will not be able to run the card so you need an older DS to update it. OR you can wait till you update the card THEN update your 3DS.

Yeah, you'll need to insert it into a console that can read it and apply the patch, which basically masks the card as a new game. Currently...Acekard 2i masks itself as "chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and will show up as such when you play it on your 3ds.

So would Acekard 2i be a better choice to go after than AceKard? Or do both work perfectly fine?

Ackeard 2i is the only acekard type that works because of the newer chip. ACEKARD 2i is what you need.
