Playdate is a 2025 film directed by Luke Greenfield and stars Alan Ritchson and Kevin James.
The basic premise of the film is that two stay at home dads end up on a wild adventure when they end up being pursued by mercenaries.
All you really need to know is that the film is somewhat okay.
It was enjoyable to watch in the first hour. Alan Ritchson gives a pretty solid performance, but the film is overall ridiculous and doesn't really work as an action film.
As a comedy film, I've seen worse, but I also can't pretend that it has more than a few solid jokes. The entire package just becomes a bit dull once the second half begins.
This is the kind of film you'd put on the background and kind of forget once it ends. Overall, I didn't hate it at least but…am I really going to ever watch this again?
