Let me explain a bit.

Some feminists in Australia recently signed this petition to take GTA V off of shelves here because it "depicts violence against women"

Yes.

Target listened and Kmart listened, they have taken the game off their shelves.

Australia had JUST got R18+ rating for games.  So we could actually buy games like Mortal Kombat and GTA V.  Now this happened and it seems they're going back to the stone age again.  It's gone too far.  

So please sign this petition for Target to continue to sell GTA V:

Its currently a public image issue that a petition will most likely never change. Since the game is still being sold in other stores, it really isn't all that big of a deal.

However, the petition can make sure none of the other stores follow suit in banning the game. Thats something to keep in mind.
 
This doesn't surprise me one bit. Social Justice Warriors can't leave things alone. This was something that legitimately did not affect them one bit. I mean they didn't have to play the game (and I wouldn't be surprised to find out none of them actually have played it). They didn't have to watch gameplay footage on youtube or anything. And they've, once again, completely and grossly exaggerated this to be about an issue that's not even really there. 
I mean let's be clear here... 
1- the playable character is a villain. (Don't expect them to be a hero.)
2- the game does not actively encourage violence against women. (It gives players the choice if they want in cases.)
3- violence in games does not cause real world violence. (There have been enough studies done to show this now. )


If a petition to pull it from shelves worked... A suitably larger petition should get them to reconsider. These stores aren't that strong and if they see a substantially larger group saying otherwise... they'll capitulate simply so they don't lose massive sales when people start shopping at other locations.

I'd sign the petition, but being non-Australian I don't think it'd do a whole lot of good. (I don't think they'd take me seriously and it might actively damage the petition if they have too many non-Australians signing.)
 
It is a poor choice for Kmart and Target to stop selling GTA V because of a petition to stop selling it for violence against women even though the main point of GTA V is not attacking women.

Kmart, and Target is causing a lot of their customers to not want to buy stuff from their stores because a lot of their customers are gamers since a lot of people play video games, and disagree with their decision to stop selling GTA V in stores, so they maybe more likely to go to other stores like Wal-Mart which sells GTA V.
 
I agree that most people will just buy it elsewhere, and their profits will suffer. But, I bet not many people buy video games from Target, and Kmart since they are not very well known stores for buying games, game consoles and electronics compared to Gamestop, Best Buy, or even Wal-mart where people go to Wal-mart to buy cheap TVs, DVD Players, Laptops, and Tablets.
