The Pokémon Company has announced that it will be ending service for the 3DS app Pokémon Bank on 27th February 2027.

So this means that the ability to transfer creatures from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Home will cease from that date. The company has advised users to ensure that any Pokémon stored in Bank are transferred over to Home prior to the closure.

Pokémon Home, of course, will continue service, and it's also been announced that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for the Switch eShop will be added in October. As expected, it's been advised that any Pokémon transferred from the games to other entries won't be able to come back, and you also can't bring Pokémon from other games over to FireRed and LeafGreen.

In addition, as a little bonus, it's been announced that if you manage to complete the Pokédex in FireRed and LeafGreen, you can claim Celebi in the mobile version of Pokémon Home.

That sucks, always felt like this is one of the things that would have lasted longer.

Pokemon Bank can be replaced by save editors. But making transfer mons to HOME basically illegal when Bank isn't around is a total drag. My Pokemon are always legit. It saves me a lot of time to transfer instead of waste resources in Scarlet. Some mons would only be available in GO after this. Ruins the whole series. Dexit and limiting popular mons ruin the meta. Champions is good, but a vast majority of why it's good is because I put in the effort. Imagine it being worse for the younger generation. These games aren't for everyone anymore. They are for people with the most money instead of the most time.

It sucks they're ending support for it but we did have a long time to download Bank and transfer Pokemon. There are other ways to get Pokemon from older games to newer ones using a modded 3DS at least so the fans will continue to work on tools.
