Online is mostly the same standard for Pokemon. Trades are pretty quick compared to other pokemon games. The online battles are sort of an arena game. It's akin to stuff like Kid Icarus Uprising but with the Pokemon as weapons. If your Pokemon is KO'd you respawn on the battlefield nearby while the others continue.
