Sega's latest game from the creators of the yakuza series is project JUDGE. You play as a detective in the game, doing detective work and combat system is looking like the yakuza games. While i don't like the Mc's hair design, the game looks good. Currently a Ps4 exclusive and coming west in 2019.

Opening Movie of the game is up:

Yes they are using real Japanese Actors and Actresses' likenesses for all the characters in the game.

I dunno on that.

Sega is really promoting the game on TGS 2018, the game got a time slot for each day, from 20 to 23 September 2018.

Gameplay trailer:

Just read TGS 2018 interview highlights with Project Judge's producer Kazuki Hosokawa from siliconera:

Around how much content is in the game?

Kazuki Hosokawa, producer: “From what has been planned by the development team, there is around as much content in this game as Yakuza 0.”

If you were to skip all the side stuff and just finish the main story, how long would it take?

Hosokawa: “If players were to just follow the main story and skip all the side stories, then players may find it a bit hard to keep up with the difficulty. In theory, the main story should take around 30-35 hours to finish, and if you finish the side stories, I imagine it would take around 70-80 hours of playtime. If you were aiming to get all the trophies, you might need 100-200 hours of gameplay. Compared to the Yakuza series, trophies in this game will be easier to get, as we’ve lowered the difficulty of getting them a bit.”

When is this game set?

Hosokawa: “The game is set in modern day. This isn’t a different Kamurocho than Yakuza’s, nor is it a parallel world. Which means that people like Goro Majima are probably living somewhere within the town.

Since this is a game about a lawyer, will there be any courtroom segments?

Hosokawa: “Yes, there will be courtroom segments. As a defense lawyer, players will need to argue for people’s innocence against the prosecutor. You will need to present evidence to fight back against the prosecutor’s arguments.”

Without hotel management, karaoke, and other elements, is there some way the protagonist can enjoy his free time?

Hosokawa: “There are several female clients who will ask you to help solve their cases and troubles, and you can get closer to them by doing so. It’s a bit like trying to get girlfriend.”

lol so waifus are in the game.

Already mentioned on the post before though, on the interview snippet.

Saw some motion capture and voice recordings video of the game:

Saw/read on Project Judge Waifus lol from dualshockers, one of them can give the Protag some massages:

The Friend Event system basically unlocks new events and features as you befriend habitants of Kamurocho. Doing this also unlocks new side-cases to solve. They can help you solve side-cases too. Here are the characters shown in the screenshots:

  • The first character is Hanami Iida, a girl who works at Smile Burger.
  • The second one is Sakura Amamiya. She’s from Soutenbori in Osaka. She’s a massagist and you’ll be able to ask her for massages if you become friends. Getting a massage refills your EX gauge needed to use super techniques in battles, so it might be wise to call her before you’re about to go in a big fight.

As you befriend certain female characters, the relationship can also develop into a romantic one, and you can go on dates together. Sometimes they’ll invite you, but you can invite them yourself too. You’ll be able to do that by exchanging messages with each other.

The story doesn’t have a heroine automatically paired with Takayuki and no particular focus on romance, but you’ll still be able to have “girlfriend related events”.

There are at least three women which Takayuki can date. The one they revealed so far is Tsukino Saotome, voiced by Kaede Hondo. She’s from Ibaraki prefecture and moved to Tokyo along with her older brother. She’s a university student. She first contacts Takayuki to ask him to catch the “three pervert musketeers”, three men in Kamurocho who sexually harass women and who were targetting her. She starts having feelings for Takayuki once he manages to stop them.

So despite not liking the protag's hair, tried the japanese demo and it's great. Looks like protag got a hair style change to reflect his transformation from a 'good boy' hero to a 'bad boy' hero 3 years later lol. Graphics and production values are top notch and you can roam the city . Battle system and controls are great. Also eventhough i don't understand japanese the game started strong with a murder case of a woman murdered by her bf and her apartment burned down with her bloody body inside.
