Sony announced during its E3 2012 that a library of PS One Classics will become available as early as this summer. The list so far includes:
  • Tomb Raider
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Wild Arms
  • Twisted Metal 2
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Arc the Lad
  • JetMoto

had me at FF 7.

Awesome news, it almost makes me tempted to just go out and buy a Vita. Afterall the Vita is the only PlayStation console I haven't owned. The reason being I thought I'd wait until more games were released as I already have too many handheld consoles as well as a tablet.

The game I'm probably most interested in is Tomb Raider. Growing up as a girl gamer I loved finally being able to play as a female character who frankly could kick peoples ... *cough* you know what. I do hope more titles are added soon though, the list is too short.

I was watching the Sony press conference live, and I literally got up from my seat in delight when I saw the PS1 games - especially Wild ARMs and Arc the Lad (big JRPG geek here). It pains me to always bring out my old PS1 for a little nostalgia trip, so this makes things a whole lot easier.

I like FFVII and CoolBoarders 2, but the other titles aren't bad either. It's interesting that Sony is promoting their older games, but some newer titles aren't doing so well. The PS1 library is going to look stunning on the Vita. I can imagine a slight improvement in graphics because of the OLED screen. All aboard the nostalgia train choo choo.

I am very excited about this news. I believe this is a very smart move on their part, because nostalgia always sells. It has been 15 years (at least) since PS1 was out, these titles will take us back to the "good old days" and we will want it. 'Jet Moto was an amazing game, I would love an opportunity to play it again.' Kind of like that. But, I am more excited by the technical capabilities of a hand held with 2 360 degree joystics than any of the software announcements. I just hope it lives up to my dream for it.

Final Fantasy VII being on that list is a HUGE plus for me.

Here's hoping for

Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Resident Evil 1,2,3
and
Tekken 3

I bet they had alot of people like your self just at FF 7, but with the thought of getting to experience Resident Evil 1,2 and 3...they got to me. Loved those three games.

Actually, they just recently announced that the entire collection of PS1 games will be Vita compatible at no extra charge. Not just those select games.

I want the PS2 library released on the Vita. There are a lot of games that I wanted to play on that system. I've played all the PS1 titles by emulating them on my computer, but now I want to play the PS2 library on my Vita.

I Personally can't wait for this to happen, really wanna play FF7(and hopefully FF8) again among other games. Been a long time coming but really glad they decided to push this forward. Sounds weird but it was one of the main things that got me to buy the Vita, To have FF8 portable on this generation's PSP is gonna be awesome. Can't wait till whenever FFX HD comes out though, that will be on my Vita AND PS3 day one. I LOVED that game. :D

That is pretty incredible actually. I am wondering why they would do that. I am looking all over the PS website and can't find this. Do you have a link?
