According to a report from Forbes, PS5 console scalping prices on StockX have fallen by 30% from their peak. While it’s still a considerably higher price to pay for the hardware, those anxious to pick up a standard PS5 can do so for around $715 compared to the $1000 price tag a scalped console boasted on Cyber Weekend 2020. PS5 Digital Editions are, surprisingly, in a similar position, falling to under $700 after also peaking at $1000 during Cyber Weekend.

I don’t support scalpers, but if you wanna be a smart scalper, you gotta be one of the first people in to make a ridiculous profit margin. If you get in when there’s several hundred listings, you’re not going to make that much money.

Then you have the really dumb scalpers that are super late when they try to scalp something that’s easily available at retail stores. I saw that a ton when the NES/SNES minis were readily available, and the Switch last year after the supply disruption was done.

You’re totally going to sucker someone with quadruple the price on Craigslist when Walmart has stacks of these sitting on the shelf.
 
Yeah, the dummies who entered in late after the initial release hype finished are going to be stuck with a few consoles that they can't get rid of for a huge profit. Pretty happy with that though as long as they eventually sell it at a normal (or acceptable) price to someone.
 
I look forward to the PS5 being readily available in retail stores. I would never resort to buying from a scalper myself. I've got patience.

I feel those people got their comeuppance if they waited too long to hoard 15 PS5’s and hope they’re selling all (if any) at a ridiculous markup.
 
Does anyone know what the situation is with the Series X? It was quite easy for me to get mine but that might have been because it was the All Access thing.
 
Hopefully 2022 will be better than 2021. Things could be a lot worse I know but yeah... I'm ready for things to be officially better.
 
I hope they will enforce limitations to make it harder for scalpers to buy up the stocks. I think I will easily have the budget for a PS5 in Q3 of 2022. Hopefully there will also be new game options of interest by then!
 
Even at $713 its kinda off for me at the moment to purchase PS5 at scalper. But I'm loving it that the price at scalper store comes with discounted amount which isn't find anywhere online.
