Recommendations for a new computer?

Cause this one is getting really, really old now. And while it's mostly usable (in the 'screen about to fall off but still switches on' kind of way), I definitely think I need a better one soon.

So, any tech people out there with good recommendations for a new computer? Ideally a laptop with at least 1TB of hard drive space and at least 10 or so GB of RAM?

I've looked at various sites in the UK, but nothing out there seems too different from the norm. Do they just sell better technology over in the US or something?

Why 10 GB??

I want enough for video making as well as more standard PC/internet activities. And that uses more memory than I'd like (especially if you want the videos processed quickly).

I guess games and emulation and stuff too, that can be a nightmare for CPU usage. Fan games especially, because Game Maker made titles are horribly optimised as far as memory and resource go. Just ask anyone who tried Mushroom Kingdom Fusion on a not particularly high range PC, some people have had their machine nearly melt trying to run that thing. Even the toned down one, Mario Fusion Revival had about a 10-20 second delay when loading levels, and that was supposedly a smaller, simpler game. Basically, I want to be able to record/process videos, use the internet, play games and code websites at the same time without the computer using more than a tiny amount of memory.

For multitasking, you'll want a good quad core cpu, like an i5 or i7. 8gb of ram should suffice if you supplement it with a decent GPU. For the internet stuff to happen fast, you'll want a good connection to your router.

Again, what is your budget for this?
