I've noticed that GamingForce allows only upvotes as part of the Reputation system. As far as I know, IPB also offers a Upvotes/Downvotes system. Do you think offering the members only the possibility to upvote makes the community friendlier or...? :huh:
 
It was changed to a up vote only for a contest we held about a year ago and was just never changed back ^^;

I'll get it sorted out.
 
In response to alakazam's question, I feel that it does in fact make a community seem friendly. It prevents users from abusing the up/down vote system when someone says something that they don't agree with, whether or not it's wrong to think so.

At the same time though, you have to have that belief that your members will do the right thing and not abuse the system.
 
Isn't that actually good? After all, some users clearly dislike some users. In order to show their dislike, they use the downvotes to soil another user's reputation.

I have seen this stuff in countless number of forums.
So it is always better to use only upvote system in order to get rid of such things among users.
