UPDATE: Resident Evil 3 remake release date to fall in April 3, 2020. It will include the online game Resident Evil: Resistance.

In Resident Evil 3, players follow Jill Valentine as she attempts to escape Raccoon City before it is destroyed by a nuclear missile. She and the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, which consists of Carlos Oliveira, Mikhail Victor, and Nikolai Zinoviev, are all attempting to work together to signal rescue efforts. However, Jill is constantly being stalked by a creature known as Nemesis. In addition to the stalking elements, another notable feature in this installment was the ability to influence the ending based on your decisions.

So I just read from pushsquare, vgc, eurogamer that RE3 Remake might be releasing next year:

VGC has reported that it's been told by a "number of sources" that a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is in production and is scheduled for release next year. Eurogamer then corroborates the news by stating it has also heard word of the project. "Sources close to its development suggest it has been in development for some time".

Assuming that intended 2020 date is accurate, an announcement could be imminent – perhaps as early as at The Game Awards next month. It’ll be interesting to see which platforms this project is aiming for, because while the PlayStation 4 is almost guaranteed, there’s a strong possibility it may nab a PlayStation 5
version, too.

man! I can't wait for this one! If I remember correctly, you had the option to face nemesis around the middle of the game, if you had the right equipment & all that. Anyway, through many 'game over' screens & logging over 50 hours, I've finally beat this game. I sure hope they remake 'Code Veronica', it's a fun game too.

And Jill is no longer wearing her PLOT miniskirt dang.

More info from Famitsu, translated by Dualshockers:

In a nutshell, Resident Evil 3 is about showing the beautifulness and strength of Jill Valentine, and the dread of the Nemesis. While Jill’s design has changed a bit to fit with how the game is more action-oriented than the original, the team kept in mind she’s one of the most popular protagonists of the series and made sure to not change her image too much. Carlos looks different too, but he still has the same hot-blooded personality. If you miss the original designs, they’re included as preorder bonuses DLC for the game.

Next, we also learned via the Famitsu interview that Resident Evil 3‘s development is pretty much complete. Masao Kawada promised the game definitely won’t be delayed from its April 2020 release. Capcom is currently handling the final adjustments of the game, and these are nearly done too, at around 90%.

This REmake will overall be more action-oriented than Resident Evil 2 Remake, all while keeping the charm of the series. The story in RE3 will be starting before the beginning of RE2 and end after its ending. RE3 will also have more changes compared to its original game than what Capcom did with RE2.

This is interesting, because I wonder if this remastered version will have certain changes in it. For example, if you have the option to kill nemesis when you encounter him, will it mean the game is done? Or one of those 'cliff-hanger' feel of the gameplay, hurt the creature & then run away? Either way, its cool how Capcom is busting out these remastered versions for modern consoles

Very excited for this, will be picking it up close to release like I did with RE2 remake. Hopefully they follow the same sort of gameplay. Also hearing reports of a Dino Crisis remake which I would be ecstatic about!

It would be nice if Capcom would remake that awfull on-rails shooter Umbrela chronicles Chris and Jill's mission in russia into a proper new survival horror RE game. Need some Chris Redfield RE game next...

Read more stuff translated by Siliconera from famitsu interview:

Below are highlights from the recently-published full interview:

  • The concepts for the game are the fear of being pursued, using the process of escaping a base, Jill’s beauty, and depicting the fear of Nemesis known as the “Pursuer.”
  • Resident Evil Resistance which comes included also has a theme of escape. Capcom moved forward in the development of both titles using the concept of “escape.”
  • Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance aren’t related and are made as completely standalone titles from each other.
  • Resident Evil 3 has more rearranged elements compared to Resident Evil 2.
  • Capcom further modified the B.O.W. Nemesis as a new weapon.
  • The master ROM is practically complete so Capcom promises no delays. As far as the completion rate goes, it’s at about 90% with only the final adjustments to go.
  • As for the story, it mostly follows the original work, but thanks to the added rearrangements, those familiar with the original will get to enjoy a fresh new take.
  • Jill boasts top-class popularity of characters in the Resident Evil series, so the developers took caution to not ruin her image with design changes. The game has more action than Resident Evil 2, so they wanted to give her a costume that doesn’t look uncomfortable during intense action.
  • Capcom not only rearranged Carlos’ appearances but also his personality. However, he likes joking around and talking idly, but the part about him actually being nice doesn’t change much. He connects with Jill through an organization called U.B.C.S., but he’s the kind of character that overflows with kindness and cares for his allies from the U.B.C.S. He’s a passionate man and there’s a scene that really shows it in the game.
  • As for Brad Vickers, we want you to see him in the game, but circumstances have changed a bit. He’s been doing all kinds of work together with his remaining buddies of S.T.A.R.S.
  • Resident Evil 2 highlighted the fear of zombies, for Resident Evil 3 it’s the action. It also has plenty that makes it a Resident Evil game.
