I think it's funny CAPCOM shit canned RE 1.5 because "it wasn't true to the franchise." Now they have no problem releasing garbage like Operation Racoon City bearing the RE name.

uhh, I think you are confusing RE 1.5 with RE 3.5 or the protoype version of RE4.

It was only said by Capcom that the original prototype version of RE4 was not true to the franchise and thus it was turned into DMC.

The later version would be called the "Hookman Version" was also canned due to them deeming supernatural enemies as to different for the Resident Evil franchise.

Although the Hookman version had the over the shoulder gameplay that would be used in the final version of RE4 and would have also had Leon as the main character, it was supposed to be involved heavily in spirits and ghosts and also would have had Leon possibly dieing at the end.

Would have been nice if the video added that part, The Hookman version looked pretty awesome.

Resident Evil 1.5 still pretty much played the same as RE1 and featured classic zombies and BOWs which is the reason why I believe you may have mistaken the two.

As for the video, I pretty much knew everything that was revealed on it lol.

HUGE Resident Evil fan since day one.

My point was, back then CAPCOM had some pride in games stamped with RE name.

Oh yea, I get your over all point, and I agree with it.

Just thought I would correct you on the RE 1.5 thing since Capcom only said that towards RE 3.5.

But I to think that its dumb for Capcom to try to move the Resident Evil series into the action market of Call of Duty and Gears of War simply for sales.

It should definitely stay in the market it help revolutionize in the first place.

But sadly Capcom only sees $$$ signs now and thats why survival horror has taken a backseat in Resident Evil games in favor of over the top action and gun totting enemies.

I guess I'm one of the few Resident Evil fans to prefer 4, 5, and 6 to 1, 2, and 3.

I loved RE4.

It was a great way to reinvent the series and still offered survival horror.

It was just that RE5 pretty much made dark/creepy survival horror take a backseat in favor of bright lit areas full of over the top action.

RE5 took the action that I did not care to much for in RE4 and made it a center point which is why I wasn't a fan of it.

With RE4 it was bearable having the more action oriented approach since it wasn't the focal point of the game itself and not to mention it still offered a lot of survival horror such as the parts with the castle and the regenerators on the Island.

I would love for the next RE game to feature the gameplay of RE4 but have the suvival horror and feel of RE1,RE2,and RE3.

Have you had a chance to play RE 6 yet? That game is almost entirely in the dark. I never get scared by a game, but I guess that's what people wanted, more darker areas, and yet RE 6 wasn't that well received, which I don't see why because it's my favorite in the series.

yea I liked RE6, or more specifically, I liked Leon and Ada's part of the game.

I however did not enjoy Chris's part at all since it was pretty much everything I disliked about RE5 turned up a couple notches.

Jake's was "better" than Chris's but still suffered from gun totting enemies and over the top action scenes.

So over all, RE6 was a "ok" game in my book.

Defnitely better than RE5 but no where near to level RE1,RE2,RE3,RECV,and RE4 in my honest opinion.

Never played Code Veronica. Is it canon?

yea its canon.

Its actually the "real" RE3 since it takes place 6 months after the events of RE2 and features claire.

The only reason it wasn't called RE3 was because Capcom had a deal with Sony at the time that said they would not release numbered Resident Evil games on the Sega Dreamcast and thus they had to rename it to Code Veronica.

RE3 was originally to be a prequel to RE2 with a different name.

I didn't like RE 3 to be honest. Least favorite in the series. I hope Code Veronica is better. And is the Umbrella Chronicles canon? And there is another Chronicle games released on the PSN store, but I don't remember it's name. I want to buy all the RE games that I haven't played on the PS3.

This one was a lot different than the others just spewing facts about the games.

Code veronica is definitely better than RE3 if you ask me.

Its actually my favorite Resident Evil game period.

Many fans hold it in high regard.

if you enjoyed RE1 or RE2 even just a little than I would say your definitely going to like it.

As for you question about the chronicles games, yes, they are also canon.

There pretty much just games that chronicle the events of the Resident Evil games with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles chronicling the events of RE0,RE1 and RE3 while Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles chronicling the events of RE2 and RECV.

Both also offered new and untold stories for those who might not be to fond of playing through the events of the older games.

Umbrella Chronicles has a new scenario called "The Fall of Umbrella" that lets you play as Chris,Jill, and Wesker as they take down Umbrella.

While Darkside Chronicles has a new scenario called "Operation Javior" that lets you play as Leon and Krauser as they journey through South America.
